Baseball America released their top 100 prospect list and 6 A’s players made the list.
I know I have talked about prospect lists numerous times, so I will keep this one short:
14. Yoenis Cespedes, OF
26. Jarrod Parker, RHP
36. Brad Peacock, RHP
57. AJ Cole, RHP
65. Sonny Gray, RHP
80. Michael Choice, OF
Obviously the first thing to take note of is that Cespedes is our top prospect rather than Jarrod Parker, who usually tops most prospect lists.
I am also surprised to see Michael Choice so low on the list, most prospect lists had him at number two behind Parker. Choice does need to work at his patience at the plate (0.46 BB/K ratio), however the numbers he put up last season Class-A Stockton (.285/.423/.667 30 HR 82 RBI in 118 games) puts him at the top half of the A’s prospect list in my opinion.
Another side note, Jarrod Parker was ranked 33rd in 2011 on Baseball America’s top prospect list, so he has moved up 7 spots.
I promise no more top prospect list talk from now forward, or at least until 2013.
