Despite having a bye, the Lions were busy this week working out several players — 24 to be exact. The list is as follows:
Quarterback: Brian Brohm
Running backs: Kevin Smith, Aaron Brown, Lonyae Miller, Wynel Seldon
Wide receivers: Antwaan Randle El, Sam Aiken, Aaron Love, Charly Martin, Terrence Toliver
Tight ends: Ryan Goleski, Jonathan Stupar
Offensive guards: Leonard Davis, Garrett Chisolm
Center: Chris Morris
Defensive end: Chauncey Davis
Defensive tackles: Tony Brown, Jovan Haye
Linebackers: Nic Harris, Lance Laury
Defensive backs: Robert McClain, Kevin Payne
Punter: Jeremy Kapinos
Long snapper: Jake Ingram
Most notably — at least for me — is running back Kevin Smith. Smith has been a free agent since the off season when Detroit chose not to tender his contract. He’s also one of my favorite players. I covered Smith in college at UCF and despite his very apparent eccentricities, I’ve always loved his attitude, determination and work ethic.
I’d honestly rather see Smith backing up Jahvid Best than Maurice Morris or Keiland Williams.
Update: The Lions will reportedly sign offensive guard Leornard Davis.

And Kevin Smith is now back.
Magnificent.
