On Saturday, November 17th, former Blue, current New Jersey Devil and St. Louis native Cam Janssen has organized a fundraiser in order to benefit first responders that were impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
The “Cam Janssen Fights Sandy; Hockey Helps Rebuild” event will be taking place at the Hardees IcePlex in Chesterfield, Missouri. The puck will drop and 7:30 PM and will feature current Blues players Alex Pietrangelo, Barret Jackman, Brian Elliott, TJ Oshie and other STL native NHLers such as Calgary Flames defenseman Chris Butler.
General admission tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased here. VIP tickets, of which there are 100 available, include a VIP entrance and seating, beer and wine, and admission into the after party and are $200.00. In addition, a silent auction for the chance to be a team coach is taking place; “the highest bidder will meet each of the team players personally and spend the game on the ice with his/her team!“
If you would like to hear Janssen talk in more detail about the event, you may do so here. For any additional information, please visit Responder Rescue.
If at all possible, I urge you to take part. While there still may be no NHL hockey taking place, this charitable event will be showcasing many of your favorite Blues and hometown kids. It is sure to be a good time, and most of all, the proceeds are going to a worthy cause!
