Apparently, Lubomir Visnovsky was serious about not wanting to play for the Islanders.
Puck Daddy reported earlier today that the recently acquired defenseman was involved in a car crash during a race in Slovakia. The 36-year-old defenseman crashed his Ferrari into a barrier head-on, shredding the nose of the vehicle. He was taken in for medical examination, but thankfully he suffered no serious injuries (so trust me, it’s okay to joke about it now). The race was postponed and will resume at a later date.
Garth Snow issued a brief statement saying the equivalent of what’s already been reported above regarding Visnovsky’s well-being. Side note: as of this writing, there’s still no date set for Visnovsky’s hearing regarding the trade from Anaheim, more than likely because of the ongoing CBA negotiations/standoff between the NHL and NHLPA.
