Analysis of Alfonzo Dennard

I won’t lie…whenever I hear a name the name Alfonzo, all I can think of is Alphonso Smith, the Detroit Lions cornerback who got BURNED multiple times by the Patriots when the two teams faced off on Thanksgiving two years ago,

Hopefully this Alonzo, a cornerback out of Nebraska, doesn’t suffer the same fight in his Patriots career.

Taken in the seventh round, at pick 224, Dennard was a controversial choice on the Pats part because he got in a little trouble with the law on April 21st – arrest for assaulting a police officer.

So you know…exactly the Pats prototype you’ve come to expect from late round choices.

Just kidding!

But seriously. Dennard is talented and he visited the Patriots during the draft process so the team obviously feels some level of comfort with him. I would rather not have felons playing for the Pats, but let’s be honest, with the state of college athletics these days, there wouldn’t be many choices left if all arrested/busted players were vetoed.

Time will tell if Dennard is worth the risk.
