What Happened Sunday!

Several NFL games were filled with excitement Sunday and sure to either help or worsen that hangover you have from New Year’s Eve celebrations! If things were just too bad for you to watch, sit back and I’ll try to get you informed as best I can! Remember, if you are looking for a specific team not covered here check the team sites!

Cardinals 23, Seahawks 20
It came down to overtime for the Cardinals. Again!

Larry Fitzgerald had an awesome catch during overtime to set up Jay Feely for a 28-yard field goal to seal the victory for the Cards. The win moves them to 8-8. This was the fourth overtime victory of of the season for the team.

This is the second consecutive 7-9 finish for Seattle. The team seems to make strides of improvement and then … flounders as the season winds down. For Seahawks fans sake, I hope Pete Carroll and the gang make some improvements.

Here’s a little more on the game between the ‘Hawks and Cards!

Giants 31, Cowboys 14
Victor Cruz and Eli Manning led the Giants to a playoff spot and the 8-8 Cowboys didn’t make it for a second season.

Manning was 24 of 33 for 346 yards and 3 TDs. Cruz had six catches for 178 yards and he did his ever popular touchdown salsa after the first score … which just so happened to be a 74-yard play. » Continue reading “What Happened Sunday!”

F.F. Fix – So You Made The Playoffs… Now What?

Fantasy Football Fix

By Kristine Reese & Corinna Evans

It’s week 11 in the NFL season which means the playoffs are quickly approaching in your fantasy football leagues. If you’ve been lucky enough to have drafted a team that isn’t filled with players that are injured or lacking in value, chances are that you are headed to the playoffs!

Playoffs in your league will begin in week 15. Allowing 2 weeks for playoffs before the regular NFL season is over. This is where things can get tricky.

As a fantasy team manager you are already looking ahead to the playoffs… well you’re not alone. General Managers & Head Coaches are also considering their playoff chances.

This means that star players may not be on the field as much, especially if it isn’t necessary. Let’s take Green Bay for example. With an 11-0 start to the season, they are moments away from clinching the division & home field advantage. Once this does happen, it’s likely that Aaron Rodgers & other key components of the team won’t play or will see limited playing time. » Continue reading “F.F. Fantasy Football Fix – Top Injuries Of The 2011 Season

By Kristine Reese & Corinna Evans

Welcome to Week 11 of the Fantasy Football Season. With only four short weeks left in the regular season, it’s crunch time if you plan to make a run for the playoffs. Even if you’ve had a rough season, there’s still time to turn things around. Let’s just hope you’ve been playing the waiver wire & are ready to replace all the injured players on your roster. Here are the top injuries that are killing fantasy teams around the nation.

Andre Johnson, Houston Texans

Just when you thought the WR from Houston was going to have the best season of his career, he suffered a hamstring injury. The Texans have been dominating the AFC South but they have one thing working against them. That would be the amount of significant injuries their star players have incurred this season.

Johnson managed to accumulate 21 catches for 316 yards with 2 touchdowns in the first three games. Then in Week 4 versus the Steelers, Johnson suffered a hamstring injury that required surgery.

Since his injury, the Texans have been relying heavily on their rushing offense. With Arian Foster healthy & Ben Tate dominating the field; the Texans have managed without their star WR. However, fantasy owners may have not been so lucky. Kevin Walter is filling in for Johnson in the mean time, however there’s a chance he wasn’t available when you went to pick him up. If that is the case also consider Owen Daniels & Joel Dreessen, as they have played a more significant role in the Texans offense.

“I feel like I’m ready. Right now, I don’t have any doubt that I’ll be back on the field next Sunday,” Johnson said.

Johnson is expected to return in week 12, after the Texans bye week, versus the Jaguars. » Continue reading “Fantasy Football Fix – Top Injuries Of The 2011 Season”
