Redskins Roundup: News and Giants

Pierre GarconNews

Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon has missed three of the last five games due to an inflammation below the second toe of his right foot. Garcon said that he tried to come back too soon during week 4 and 5 and says, “It’s tough because that’s what I pride myself on — running fast.” We’ll keep tabs on his injury and hope he can come back soon.

Robert Griffin III has made the Redskins ground game one of the best in the NFL. His 76 yard run on Sunday was the NFL’s longest rush by a quarterback in 16 years and it helped make the Redskins number two in rushing in the NFL.

The Washington Redskins take on the New York Giants this week at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ (I kind of find it funny they don’t actually play in New York but are named the New York Giants). The Giants shut down the San Francisco 49ers run game last week, limiting them to just 80 rushing yards. They will be looking to do the same against the Redskins. The Giants have an effective pass rush which could be trouble for RG3.

The Giant’s quarterback Eli Manning has a the NFL’s third highest passing yards. The Redskins will need to work on their pass defense to limit Manning’s passing yards.

If the Redskins can shut down the Giant’s passing game and have a strong running game, I would say they have a good chance of winning. Tune in Sunday to see the game.
