Oh Ocho…

Ochocinco’s mugshot

***UPDATE***

Chad Ochocinco Johnson was released from the Miami Dolphins Sunday after his Saturday evening domestic violence arrest.

According to NFL.com, “the Miami Dolphins have said goodbye to Chad Johnson. That, according to NFL Network contributor and Fox Sports Insider Jay Glazer, who first reported Sunday the team cut the wide receiver. Team employees cleaned out his locker at Dolphins camp. It caps a sudden turn of events for Johnson, who two days ago was perceived on the comeback trail in his career and atop Miami’s depth chart at wide receiver.”

It is believed this could have been Ocho’s last chance as an NFL player.

Miami Dolphins receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson spent Saturday evening in jail.

Guess why?

He allegedly head-butted his new bride, Evelyn Lozado.

According to ABCNews.com:

Johnson, 34, and his wife, Evelyn Lozado, were on their way home from dinner when they reportedly began fighting over receipt for condoms Lozado found in the car. The argument allegedly escalated and Johnson head-butted Lozado in the driveway.

“She has a pretty good-sized laceration on her forehead,” Davie Police Capt. Dale Engle told the Miami Herald.

Johnson married Lozado on July 4 of this year.

The 6’4”, 190-pound football player told officers that he and his new wife bumped heads by accident, but officers saw Lozado’s forehead and arrested Johnson on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. He spent the night in Broward County Jail, according to jail records. Bond was set at $2,500.

The couple’s new reality show on VH1,”Ev and Ocho” is set to debut on Sept. 3.

This is a pretty amazing story. They have a reality show. The Miami Dolphins are doing Hard Knocks.  The couple has this incident. Interesting. No?

Yes, domestic violence incidents such as this should never be discounted or downplayed. But, this is Ocho we are talking about. He has done some crazy stuff since being in the NFL. Being a violent, woman-beating thug isn’t one of those things he has been known for so … maybe this was just a misunderstanding.

Maybe Ev was really angry about finding the receipt for condoms. Can you blame her? No!

Maybe we need to wait and hear the whole story before we throw judgement Ocho’s way.
