Field Goals Late Give Cowboys Win

Dan Bailey made good Sunday by kicking four field goals as the Cowboys snapped a two-game losing streak Sunday, defeating the Carolina Panthers 19-14.

Bailey had three field goals in the second half, including two in the final four minutes of the game. The first field goal, which was for 28 yards, gave Dallas the 16-14 lead.

Carolina turned the ball over on downs and thanks to a questionable horse collar call, the Cowboys were set up to score once more in the final minutes. Bailey kicked his next field goal, a 38-yard field goal, with 53 seconds left, to lead 19-14.

Carolina had one last try, but a short pass turned into laterals, which turned into nothing.

The Panthers started the fourth quarter with the lead thanks to a Mike Tolbert 2-yard touchdown run. Carolina went into halftime with a 7-3 lead, thanks to a Cam Newton 5-yard touchdown pass to Brandon LaFell. Newton completed 21-of-37 for 232 yards. Newton also had 64 yards rushing.

Tony Romo helped Dallas in the third quarter with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Miles Austin. Romo finished the game with 227 yards passing. Austin was shy of 100 yards receiving, finishing with 97 yards.

Dallas had a setback though as Phil Costa was injured late in the first half. Costa injured his right ankle, according to various reports.

For Bailey, this game was redemption as he missed a field goal late against Baltimore last week.

Dallas is now 3-3 for the season and they get the Giants next week.
