The KC Chiefs came together and lost this game 37-20 to the San Diego Chargers as a team, according to most post-game interviews.
The Chiefs defense allowed an opening possession touchdown for the third time in four games, and then went on the commit six turnovers, five of which were in the first half. San Diego turned these turnovers into 24 points.
While many blame Matt Cassel and his three interceptions for the loss, Cassel did throw two touchdowns and 251 yards, and one of his interceptions was tipped off the hands of Dexter McCluster. Jamaal Charles, who stole the show last game, fumbled twice, but also scored a touchdown. Plus, Jackie Battle, who scored two touchdowns for the Chargers, used to be a Chief. So it’s not ALL bad.
Two actual bright spots in the game for the Chiefs came from a Brandon Flowers interception, and WR Dywane Bowe who had 108 yards and a touchdown.
In other note-worthy news, the regular referees were back and busy with 15 penalties.
The 1-3 Chiefs face Baltimore next Sunday.
