The reports have been released and confirmed that Taj Gibson sprained his MCL in his knee. The Bulls are stating that he may be out for up to two weeks. Hopefully, Taj can return in early to mid March. Last night, the Bulls definitely needed him in their 101-98 loss to a Cleveland Cavaliers team sans Kyrie Irving. A game that the Bulls easily should have won. Last night, the Chicago Bulls looked as if there’s no more gas left in the tank. The All-Star Weekend was supposed to rejuvenate their team, but that did not last. Joakim Noah is just returning from a plantar fasciitis injury, but it still playing heavy minutes. He’s averaging 38.3 minutes. While Luol Deng is still playing the most minutes, averaging 39.0 minutes per game. Carlos Boozer is playing just over 30 minutes, but will most likely play heavy minutes because of Taj’s absence. Also, Nazr Mohammed will get more minutes. Though it seems that Coach Thibodeau finds Nazr unreliable on the floor. He’s not consistent in scoring or rebounding. Obviously, Taj’s absence is gonna hurt the Bulls because he gives great energy and hustle coming off the bench. The Chicago Bulls have lost 7 of their last 10 games. On Thursday, the Chicago Bulls will face the Philadelphia 76ers. With a struggling Philly team, maybe the Bulls can take advantage of them and get back on a much needed winning streak.
