Rumors have been rumbling about the Chicago Bulls possibly making some major changes to their roster. Earlier this week, there were plenty of speculation that the Bulls were planning on trading Luol Deng to free up cap space. This isn’t the first time the Chicago Bulls were rumored to wanting to trade Deng. But, the issue is teams wanting to pick up his contract. His value has undoubtedly risen and teams now may want to take a closer look at him. Also, there were rumors that the Boston Celtics were interested in Omer Asik. Asik isn’t very reliable obviously for offense, but he is steadily improving on the defensive end. With a defensive-minded coach like Doc Rivers, Asik could blossom into a premiere defender.
As of yesterday, Luol Deng and now Joakim Noah’s name has been thrown into the keep or trade discussion. It has been stated that the Bulls want to trade for a high draft pick. But, no one is certain how high just yet. The Bulls owe Luol Deng about $27 million over the next two years and Joakim Noah is owed $48 million over the next four years. This could be a tough and bold decision to make especially since Joakim Noah and Luol Deng have been the core of the team since 2004 when Deng was drafted and Noah drafted in 2007. Certainly, Bulls fans are gonna be a little hesitant on saying goodbye to Luol Deng and fan favorite, Joakim Noah.
The NBA draft is on June 28. Chicago is said to make their move before then or on the day of.
