Winter Warm-Up Interviews: Young Guys And New Guys

JC Romero

This morning we’ve been lucky enough to get to hear from a few guys not very well known in St Louis just yet. They all seem to be guys the media here will absolutely adore working with, especially JC Romero. He had us cracking up the entire time.

Matt Adams

On playing in the Arizona  Fall League:

“It was a good experience to be able to play against the best prospects in all of baseball.”

On this coming season’s goals:

“Well, the goal is to break camp with the big league team, but there are a lot of guys competing for a lot of jobs. So I’m going to go out and have a good spring and hopefully make that Memphis roster.”

Brandon Dickson

On preparation:

“I’ll be preparing as a starter. It’s easier to go from a starter to a reliever than the other way around.”

After being sent back down:

“It gives me a little more drive to do what I have to do to be out there.”

On versatility:

“Being a starter in Memphis makes me more versatile. It means I’m able to come into the big club and fill any role I need to.”

JC Romero

On this season:

“I’m looking forward to being here and being part of the team. Looking forward to having a very good season. Bottom line is I’m healthy and I’m here and I’m a Cardinal now. … I’m glad the Cardinals took a chance on me.”

On the Cardinals:

“I’ve always had a lot of respect for this team and this organization.”

On pitching this year:

“I hope to see 60-80 appearances, 50-60 innings pitched. As long as I’m healthy, I could pitch every day.”

On facing left-handed hitters:

“I look forward to the challenge of facing those guys and giving this team good outs.”

  1. I’m excited about Matt Adams. It wasn’t that long ago — 2010, actually — that I was watching him here in the Quad Cities, so looking forward to seeing what he can do!
