When it is tied 1 all going into the sixth inning, high anxiety usually sets in for Cardinals fans.

David Freese had a 3-RBI game for the Cardinals Friday against the Rockies. The Cards beat the Rockies 6-1.
But Friday night, as the Cardinals took to the plate in their half of the sixth … it was like a different team from those from earlier in the season were out on the field.
Rafael Furcal and Jon Jay were on base with Albert Pujols up to bat. Albert hits a bloopy single to right field allowing Jay to move up to 3rd and Furcal to score. Albert didn’t ground into a double play. Very refreshing!
Matt Holliday hit a double over the head of their third baseman Chris Nelson to within a scrambling of left fielder Seth Smith. This allowed Jay to score. Albert moved up to third. Again, no double play. There are no outs!
Lance Berkman gets intentionally walked to load up the bases for David Freese.
Fox Sports Midwest commentators noted that Freese typically hits opposite field and noted the shift to the right that the Rockies had taken. Does Freese hit opposite field as usual? Nope! Freese singled to LEFT FIELDER Seth Smith allowing Albert and Holliday to score. Berkman moved up to second.
Next up Skip Schumaker knocks a single and Lance Berkman attempts to score, but not with the trick slide he did in the first inning to score, and he is tagged out.
Kyle Lohse steps up to the plate and while Fox Sports Midwest commentators debated if he or Chris Carpenter were more “hittery,” Lohse singles to right field and Freese scores to make it 6-1.
Freese had three RBI on two hits for the Cardinals as he was the one who hit the single to drive in Berkman in the first inning.
Lohse pitched 6.1 innings giving up four hits and one earned run that was a homer off Carlos Gonzalez in the fourth. Lohse now has a record of 10-7. Jason Motte and Kyle McClellan pitched 2.2 flawless innings of relief.
Also, the Cardinals announced the signing of lefty specialist Arthur Rhodes. Tony Cruz, our second back-up catcher but quite the player, was optioned to AAA Memphis. Here is one story on the move from the Post-Dispatch.
Rhodes actually replaces Raul Valdes on the 40-man roster as he was designated for assignment. Also, lefty pitcher Ron Mahay requested and was granted his release from the team.
So what did you think of tonight’s game?
More of this team would be great! Cardinals wins make for happy fans! Let’s keep up this winning streak and hope for a big time losing streak for the Brewers!
