The view from the Bob Gibson suite before the game
Yesterday the Cardinals hosted a blogger event at Busch Stadium, with the members of the United Cardinal Bloggers out in force.
The entire event was first-class — the opportunity to hear from general manager John Mozeliak and other front office personnel, seats in a party suite (happily, my ticket that featured Chris Carpenter’s picture was for the Bob Gibson suite), free food and drinks, the chance to meet and talk with more Cards personnel and the rest of the UCB members and more. Oh, and Fredbird even showed up! Terrific experience — thanks to everyone from the Cardinals for the opportunity to be there.
And the Cards on the field managed to put on a great show for us too — a four-hit, complete game shutout by Jaime Garcia and the first win of the season, 2-0 over the Padres. Very fast game, just over two hours, but the outcome and the chance to see Jaime pitch so well were well worth it.
