David Freese and Nick Punto have been activated from the disabled list. Thank goodness! More wins? OK!
It’s news that Cardinals fans have been anticipating … even trying to speed up in some cases …
That’s right, kids! David Freese and Nick Punto have been activated off their stints on the disabled list and will join the club tomorrow in Baltimore. Pete Kozma and Andrew Brown were both sent back to the Memphis Redbirds to make room on the roster.
Here is the St. Louis Post-Dispatch story on the moves.
Freese and Punto both had rehab stints last week to ensure they were ready to come off the disabled list.
Freese played four games in his rehab assignment at Memphis, batting .231 (3 for 13) with one RBI. Punto appeared in seven games with Class AA Springfield and hit .333 (8 for 24) with two RBIs.
We are expecting these two players to be the saving grace from our losing ways of late. Those numbers, however, are not spectacular. At all. Remember, though, they are just coming off the DL. So don’t be too hard on them, OK?
Honestly, Freese and Punto might just provide that needed spark with their fresh bats and eagerness to rejoin the team.
The mere anticipation of better St. Louis Cardinals baseball has me ready to go out on a limb. I declare myself president of the David Freese Fan Club. I believe a Punto club was already forming prior to him hitting the disabled list. But I don’t think a Freese Club was established. So I am doing it. Freese Fan Club!
I am taking applications now!

More fan clubs? I guess if Freese, and Punto for that matter, do things that are worthy of having fan clubs, then things will be good!
