The Only Thing You Have To Do Today

Guess who’s having drinks with Mayor Willie Brown, Ed Lee, Diane Fienstein and Gavin Newsome? Go vote mutha fuggers!!! ;)

Even if you’re completely disillusioned with national politics, there are leaders, issues, and causes in your local community you can get behind.  Trust me, the “all politics is local” thing really hits home when your tea party school board decides to take away your school buses because it sees them as “an entitlement issue.”  Vote for a real candidate, vote for a write-in candidate, vote for a protest vote candidate, vote for Lou Piniella.

Just vote.

Looks like the Cubs are interested in Ryu Hyun-Jin http://www.arirang.co.kr/News/News_View.asp?nseq=139779&code=Ne7&category=6

    Anyone know anything about him?

Looks like the new Cubbie announcer might be 1 of the 5….Dan Plesac; Rick Sutcliffe; Eric Karros; Todd Hollandsworth; and Gary Matthews.

I know its unpopular to some around here but my choice of the 5 is Plesac. Flame away!

Out of that list, Sarge or GTFO. I could be listening to a lot more Pat + Zonk next season.

I would miss Plesac on MLB, so for that reason I’m hoping for Sutcliffe. Karros is an awful choice, unless the Cubs want their very own Hawk Harrellson with hair. It would be interesting though, to have Karros take back some of the many, many stupid comments he has made about other teams while being on the Dodgers homer pre-game show…

If there are reports of the Cubs leaving WGN in a couple of years why would anyone want this job.
I would certainly make that a key question if I was being interviewed

If the Cubs leave WGN…it would likely be so they can start their own network, at which point they’ll be almost as accessible nationally as they are on WGN. This is one of the most high profile jobs in baseball and it will continue to be regardless if they are on WGN or not.

Won’t they be under contract to WGN?

While technically employees of WGN (even when they are broadcasting on Comcast), the Cubs pretty much have jurisdiction over the announcers. I would imagine any contract given to the new color guy would only run the length of the TV current contract. Usually these guys aren’t signed to long term deals anyway. At the point the TV contract ends, if the Cubs choose to move to another tv outlet, a new contract would probably go through that new network.

I can’t wait until this day is over….the stupid jokes, the criticisms, the groaning, the moaning, the bickering, the talking, the arguing, the stupid pictures, the signs, the debates, and all the rest that comes with it……just let it get over with already!

Why? Do he go to the same doctors that fixed up Bartolo Colon? I can’t really see any team wanting him, unless he is showcased in something like the World Baseball Classuc. I would think most teams would rather shell out $$ for young players…

I was thinking more along the lines of…if he shows he might have anything left, we pick him up on some sorta split contract or guaranteed minor league deal and possibly flip him at the deadline.
