I’m not sure anyone needs a break this off-season as much as Carl and I do. And, as there’s no real Cubs news today (at least as of 10:43 am CT), we’re going to take the opportunity to say “Happy Thanksgiving” and that we hope you have a great holiday.
Of course, if any Cubs news breaks, we’ll jump back in. Aside from that, we’re in full-on Turkey mode until Friday. But, before we go, we would be remiss if we didn’t say we’re grateful for all of you, who made this past Cubs season nearly bearable. Mwah.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Slackers.
My daughter has been really into the Peanuts cartoons lately…she watches Great Pumpkin one a lot and there is a Thanksgiving one too.
I found it really disturbing that Woodstock was so happy when he was eating turkey in the thanksgiving one.
I love it when Snoopy rises up in the pumpkin patch.
My grandson thinks that is hysterical.
Then again he could be laughing at me.
Now that Carl and Julie have taken off, all heck will break lose. The Cubs probably will:
1. Announce the new announcer to join Len Kasper-former Survivor star Jeff Kent.
2. Announce a block-buster trade between the Cubs, the Mariners, the Red Sox, and the Rays. Each team will trade to another all the old left over videos rented from Blockbuster Video not returned.
3. A naming rights deal with C & S Whilesale Grocers, which will rename Wrigley Field to Piggly Wiggly Wrigley Field.
“Piggly Wiggly Wrigley Field”
That might be the funniest thing you’ve ever posted.
I like it.
Hey! They should do it. That is great!
I’m still not sure what the heck the Blue Jays were thinking when they re-hired John Gibbons.
This team loves recycling it’s old managers I guess. It’s pretty disappointing considering all the moves they’ve made so far this season, but at least they refrained from hiring Jim Riggleman.
Seriously… I don’t get it, either.
Was Cito Gaston unavailable?
And I honestly though the general impression around baseball was that Gibbons really ended up not being that good of a manager.
He physically fought with several players. Wtf?
Chris Volstad was designated for assignment by the Royals.
Maybe we can get him to PAY the Cubs to pitch.
Sooner or later he has to go on a winning streak I would think.
There is not any amount of money that he could pay to allow the Cubs to let him pitch for them again.
Maybe he will pay the Cardinals so he can pitch for them.
And win a Cy Young
Before I forget:
Since Julie has left til friday:
Indiana goes down to defeat tonight to Georgetown!
Time for a BEER!!!! 22 oz Marble Red(6.5%) while I enjoy the game.
Big 10 sports…continuing prove how overrated they actually are.
EXCEPT, OF COURSE, FOR THE NUMBER ONE COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAM IN THE COUNTRY!
We’ll see about that.
(Actually, Big 10 cross country and track & field have been very good for a number of years now…so they do have that.)
Hasn’t UW won something like 13 titles in a row in CC?
I believe that is correct…and they won the national championship last year. They got beat out by Oklahoma State last weekend for the 2013 national championship.
I’m very close with the UW track and cross country programs as I work for the company that handles the timing at their events.
Cubs DFA LaHair.
I have to wonder if LaHair is going to end up in Japan. That’s where he intended to go last year before Jed convinced him that he was going to be their first baseman in 2012.
And I’m seeing on Twitter that is likely what is going to happen. It looks like the Cubs agreed to DFA him so he could pursue a spot in Japan.
Cubs acquire RHP Barret Loux and a player to be named from #Rangers for RHP Jake Brigham
Oh.
Yeah well.
Wo? For who?
Some guy for some guy…
Happy Travel Day & early Thanksgiving LOHO!
Barret Loux sounds like a hockey players name…
And he was once a pretty highly thought of prospect.
Bleacher Nation had a really good write up about the trade, the reasoning behind it, and what to expect from Loux. Basically, the Cubs got Loux as a replacement for Brigham, who the Cubs got in the Soto trade…Brigham proved to be damaged goods, so the Cubs gave him back to the Rangers and we got Loux in return.

Wishing all of you a happy Thanksgiving. Thank you Julie and Tom for your success in giving us a place to have fun and vent our frustrations. I consider all of of you good friends and I look forward to our World Series victory. Mark, Julie,Tom, Doc, Gidard, Sloan, Flyball and anyone that I missed, I wish you the best. Now fuck off and get drunk. Fuckers.
God Bless.
Does Tom = Carl?
My apoligies. Of course I meant Carl. I spend some time on “The Cubs Den” John and Tom do a great job on there site reporting stats, prospects, sabermetrics etc… I wish you all especially Carl
the best Thanksgiving ever! Xoxo
Happy Thanksgiving All!
Okay, since no one’ s around……
GO NOTRE DAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BEAT USC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so nervous for this game.
I haven’t been this nervous about a college football game in probably over a decade.
Less than an hour to go…GO IRISH!!!
I can’t believe how excited I am over this game.
All week, the sportsfools keep bringing up all the upsets. Not funny or cute. I wish tne game was already played….
Notre Dame won!!!!!!!!!!Suck it L.A. Sportsdorks!!!!!!!,SUCK IT USC!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can breathe again!!!
Bring on the SEC!
Last night, one Curt Sandoval of the L.A. ABC affiliate made a total fool of himself by shrillingly stating that ND was number one because they did not play in the Pac 12-he finished by yelling that Oregon would have “smoked” ND…
ND’s strength of schedule has been one of the reasons it moved up so quickly in the BCS rankings.
I think Oregon would and ND would have made a very competitive game. Not saying ND would have won, but it would have been very close. (I think the Irish would have destroyed K-State…that was a team that ridiculously overrated.)
Alabama…honestly, they play at a different level than the rest of college football.
