Game Thread: Looks Like Dusty’s Back In Town

I really can’t stand Dusty Baker.

Oh, I know he’s a great guy. I’ve heard it from everyone. He’s cool, kind, generous. I’m sure it’s all true.

But sometimes you just can’t forgive. And there’s a mountain of things I can’t forgive Dusty Baker for. Pitching rookie Mark Prior over 200 innings in 2003. Not taking rookie Mark Prior out of certain game, which we shall not mention, when he was clearly falling apart. Taking his then 4-year old son into the post-game presser and using him like a shield so he didn’t have to answer any hard questions afterwards. Not moving Sammy out of the cleanup spot even though he was hitting .037. That stupid toothpick. Neifi Perez.

There will be no forgiveness today.

The Reds roll into Wrigley this afternoon to take on the Cubs, who are fresh-off a 5-game win streak. The Reds, on the other hand, the Reds have lost 6 of their last 10 and have dropped to 7.5 games out of the lead for the NL Central. Only Dusty Baker could screw up a Walt Jocketty team.

Today non-convicted criminal Ryan Dempster (8-8, 4.96) will take on convicted shoplifter Mike Leake (9-6, 3.89).

Today’s lineup:

  1. Castro SS
  2. Campana CF
  3. Ramirez 3B
  4. Peña 1B
  5. DeWitt 2B
  6. Soriano LF
  7. Colvin RF
  8. Hill C
  9. Dempster P
Patrick Sharp throws out the first pitch is at 1:20 pm CT on WGN. How handsome.

I totally agree on all counts about Baker, except one thing — Neifi. Yes, he should never have been on the roster, and never have played as much as he did.

But I will always have a soft spot for him for 1998.

I came home and actually got to see the Cubs win a game! I was screaming at the pitchers the whole game though, which made me so tired I fell asleep and forgot to post my Ipod 5. So here it is:
    1. “Shy Boy(Don’t it make you feel good)”-Bananarama w/ Fun Boy 3.
    2. “Footloose”- Kenny Loggins.
    3. “Golden Slumbers”- The Beatles.
    4. “Tenderness”-General Public.
    5. “Patience”-Guns & Roses.

Given what we’ve seen of Quade so far, do you think August Quade is the managerial equivalent of April Fukudome?

Also, I missed out on the I Pod 5 today as well. But since 45 years ago today the Beatles released Revolver, that’s what I’ve been listening to all day. Consider it my I Pod 14…
