So I can’t remember if Carl or I was supposed to do headlines today, but if it’s me, you guys are going to have to wait until I get back from a meeting around noon. I no longer suffer under the delusion that what I write here matters anyway, so just talk amonggst yourselves like you usually do.

Tell AJ I said hi.
So does Jackson go back to tearing up AAA pitching once the jerk face Rizzo gets called up? I mean who does that Rizzo think he is? Doesn’t he know that Brett Jackson was the next overhyped solution to our outfield that Hendry would have blocked with a scrappy, middling veteran?
I think Brett Jackson has some issues he needs to work out that have nothing to do with Anthony Rizzo. He’s on pace to strike out easily over 150 times this year…which is a pretty scary number for a minor league season that is a month shorter than a major league season.
He is walking (29), hitting for power (9 triples and 8 homers), and stealing bases (13)…but those strikeout totals are frightening in a hitter friendly PCL. That would probably translate to over 200 strikeouts in a major league season.
Maybe when Rizzo is gone, he can turn it around just by the fact that he becomes “the man” again, but I wouldn’t count on it. There is just a little too much he needs to work on right now.
Happy Rizzo Day, everyone!!!
