If you were worried about the rebuilding effort of the Cubs under Theo, Jed and company, worry no more. Bud Selig supports the Cubs and their work to construct a first-class franchise.
“I’m a disciple of Branch Rickey,” Selig said Thursday in Rosemont. “What the Cubs are doing (with) Theo, they’re absolutely on the right track. I can’t be critical of that. I think I can use my own instinctive baseball judgment.
“I don’t think anybody accused the Red Sox of not (trying to compete), and I like the way the Cubs are going. If I was running a franchise, I would follow that pattern to a T.”
Bud is also willing to help out in trying to get help for the Wrigley Field renovations that one day might happen.
“I’ve talked a lot to Tom,” Selig said. “I certainly want to be involved and helpful, to help them get done what they want to get done.”
Is there anyone that wants Bud Selig involved in this, besides Bud Selig? Luckily for us, Tom Ricketts doesn’t think Bud’s help will be needed.
Ricketts said Thursday he doesn’t expect Selig to get involved in talks with Mayor Rahm Emanuel that ended abruptly several months ago over family patriarch Joe Ricketts’ involvement in a proposal for a racially-tinged political smear-campaign against Emanuel’s pal President Barack Obama.
They just have to keep Papa Ricketts from making any more political blunders.
If you’re interested in some fun weekend reading, friend of LOHO Aisle424 wrote a piece skewering some guy at RantSports who has already run out of patience with the new regime. It made me laugh out loud.

That piece by Tim ripping the RantSports guy is priceless.
For those of you thinking that the Blue Jays will be competitive in the AL East this year…
Jim Riggleman is one of the finalists for their manager position.
Chalk up another division title to the Yankees.
Thanks for the shout out, Carl.
Rant Sports wanted to “acquire” Aerys. Heh.
It would have improved their content by about a million percent. I’m sad I only learned about their existence until recently. That’s a frickin’ gold mine of terrible writing and shallow “analysis” to mock.
Just looking at their most recent Cubs posts…I have to just laugh. Jarrod Saltalamacchia? And where do people keep getting this Rick Porcello rumor from?
And their latest post???

BAAAAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Hey Julie, hope your mum is ok.
Rant Sports are a bunch of idiots. Keep up the good work.
Thanks.
Take cover!
Bud’s set loose the ol ‘Instinctive Baseball Judgement’.
And he wants to help.
Just watched USC lose to UCLA. All week, the local news dorks kept interviewing SC fans. One claimed that if USC lost, “The Cubs will win the World Series.” I guess that means the Cubs have it all swn up for 2013…
The Marlins have signed Juan Pierre to a 1-year deal. More or less insulting than sending half the team to Canada? Discuss.
Canada has better health care,so the Marlins is a worse fate.(if you can call being paid $$to play ball for crappy owners a bad fate)
Canada’s health care is only good if you don’t have anything REALLY wrong with you.
Juan Pierre is a very likable guy. So there is that. The problem for Marlins fans is that Juan Pierre is probably going to be their starting center fielder and leadoff man.
But I would say the trade was more insulting.
Honestly, I cant believe i’m awake at this time. My sweetheart took me to see the new “Twilight” movie last night and in all honesty the movie was pretty cool. I got woken up again abruptly by the crazy Chinese lady’s doing chants and dances right in front of my bedroom window again so I’m pretty pissed off right now.
I will be attending the Bears/49ers game tomorrow night at Candlestick Park. Wish Cutler hadn’t had his head taken off by inappropriate play last week. Hope Cambell can handle the load. My Sunday already sucks. Discuss.
Watching he Grinch, and have to agree with him bout noisemakers….
The good news…Dan Plesac has dropped out of the “Brenly replacement” race.
The bad news…Doug Glanville has dropped out of the “Brenly replacement race.
So who’s left?
It’s pretty much down to Todd Hollandsworth and me.
Actually I’ve heard a rumor that Jim Deshaies might be interviewing for the job. He’s with the Astros right now, I believe, and having heard him before, I think he’d do pretty well.
And while we are waiting for headlines,
The Cubs have re-signed Matt Camp…presumably to help protect those 6 run deficits.
