Anyone at the game Saturday was treated to the Big Z show. He pitched six innings for the win and helped his own cause with a home run to right-center field. It wasn’t a cheap one, either.
“I’m not (Tony) Campana, you know?” Zambrano said with a grin of the Cubs rookie who hit an insider-the-park home run on Friday. “I’m a big man, big men are supposed to hit the ball with authority. Inside the park, I’ll leave that to Campana. But it was a good pitch to hit. Thank God I was able to crush it.”
Speaking of Tony Campana, he’s reveling in his new found celebrity after his inside-the-park home run Friday.
‘‘After I got back in the clubhouse, I had 60-some messages,’’ he said. ‘‘I ended up having to put my phone on vibrate because I was still getting them at 2 in the morning.’’
Campana became the first Cub to have his first career home run be an inside-the-park homer at Wrigley Field. He also hit a double and a single and made a game-saving catch at the center-field wall.
Was the catch as exciting as the homer?
‘‘I don’t hit many home runs,’’ he said with a smile. ‘‘I kind of make a lot of catches.’’
Today’s game starts at 1:20 Central and features Bronson Arroyo (7-9, 5.45) against Randy Wells (3-4, 5.89). Sorry, anyone not near Chicago, as this one’s on CSN. You’ll have to make do with Gameday.

That picture of Z scared me for a minute.
I thought for a second that Auntie Lou was back.
I’m better now.

And the umpire is calling balls on Marshall’s (and Spellcheck’s) strikes! That doesn’t help.

I “watched” the game on MSNBC & have a question: why was Wells left in so long?

dammit! and I purposely didn’t watch so they would win. during the streak I didn’t watch 1 pitch. I checked on my phone and saw that they had gone ahead. even when they fell behind I thought with 2 more innings to bat they would still do it. it’s just too bad that milwaukee wouldn’t cooperate and lose. well, start again tomorrow. julie(LYH) go CUBS!!!!
