Cubs Live Game Thread: Let’s Just Get This Over With

You and me both, lady.

The Cubs have lost six games in a row and, frankly, there’s no end in sight.

After putting together a decent run right before the trade deadline, someone reminded the Cubs they’re supposed to suck this season, so they went back to it. What have we learned from this? You can never predict the impact losing Reed Johnson will have on a team.  The Braves have gone 5-7 since Reed joined their little dog and pony show. AHEM.

But back to our crappy little team.

Tonight someone named Brooks Raley (seriously . . . “Boo Radley.” Every. Single. Time) will take the mound for the Cubs, mostly because we’re completely out of pitchers.  For the Padres, it’ll be Russ Ohlendorf (3-2, 6.27).

And seriously, there’s no reason for this team not to be able to drop a load of beat down on the Padres. They’re 47-64. They’ve won four more game than the Cubs. It’s not like we’re playing the ’27 Yankees here.

Though batting Brett Jackson leadoff probably isn’t the best idea.

First pitch is at 9:05 pm on CSN+.  Lineup to come.

I thought the whole point of a leadoff hitter was his ability to get on base.

I wonder how many strikeouts in a row Jackson will get. What are we at now? 5? 6? Place your bets.

Well,Soriano could “teach the kids,” using the Highlights for Children Goofus & Gallant method, whereupon Soriano plays the role of Goofus…

on the upside they are on pace to lose only 97/98 games

I’m still predicting 101, I believe in aiming high
