Chicago Cubs Friday Headlines: Sammy Loved Chicago, Unlike Justin Upton

We have so much to talk about today.

First, I think we’d be remiss if we didn’t discuss yesterday’s big story: Sammy Sosa’s Pinterest page.

Implied in the word “Pinterest,” is “interest.” In other words, your Pinterest page is a place where you showcase/remember things that are interesting to you. Here is a screen shot of my Pinterest page:

See? Baseball stuff. Travel stuff. A fire pit that looks like the Death Star. All things I like.

Now let’s look at Sammy’s Pinterest page:

So, I mean . . I’m not sure that Sammy really understands how Pinterest works. Although it IS full of things that are interesting to him, so he’s got that going for him. Which is nice.

If there are two things in life that Sammy loved during his playing days, they were himself and Chicago. Sadly, we can’t say the same about Justin Upton:

Sources say Justin Upton rejected a trade to the Seattle Mariners – one of four such designated teams in his contract, along with the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays andChicago Cubs.

On the one hand, I can’t really blame Justin. I mean.  . . I wouldn’t want to play here, either. On the other hand, I shall now proceed to feel rejected and to hate Justin Upton forever for this slight.

But who needs Justin Upton when the Cubs have Luis Valbuena? I’m sure you’re all relieved to know that HE’S PROBABLY ON HIS WAY TO CHICAGO RIGHT NOW:

CHICAGO (AP) — Infielder Luis Valbuena has agreed to a $930,000, one-year contract with the Chicago Cubs, nearly double the $495,200 he made last year.

Valbuena , who avoided arbitration with Thursday’s deal, has a .224 average in five big league seasons, including three with Cleveland. He played in 90 games for the Cubs last season, batting .219 with 28 RBIs, 36 walks and 26 runs in 265 at-bats.

Three Cubs remain eligible for arbitration: right-handers Matt Garza and Jeff Samardzija, and left-hander James Russell.

Cubs Con is next weekend. Anyone planning on stalking Theo and Jed? I’ll be the redhead behind the potted plant.

And finally, I really can’t wait for this:

He is getting about a million dollars.

    He hit .219.

I wish I got paid exorbitant amounts of money just for showing up.

42 looks to be a great movie. I’m looking forward to it. And the shots of the old stadiums look awesome. This is going to be a fun movie to see in April.

More and more guys are heading to Pinterest. I know this because I’m starting to see a lot more naked women in my Pinterest feed.

Actually, there are a ton of guys on there pinning articles and photos about the Cubs and sports in general.

Maybe Sammy just wants to share his love of the colors yellow, blue, and red, and to acknowledge that his major fashion influence was Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel Air…

Milton Bradley has officially been charged on a number of counts after abusing his wife over the last 2 years.

Possibly 13 years in prison if convicted.

Offtopic: does this site use JAVA? The IT people have sent an email stating that they will come around tonight and disconnect “JAVA client”,due to some problems with JAVA. They state that most of the business processes we do with the Internet will not be affected, but it may “affectout of state or out of the country websites you access”…
