After a huge weekend of sweeping the Cub at home in Atlanta, the Braves went to Miami to beat the Marlins 2-0 last night.
Starting pitchers for tonight’s game are Atlanta’s Kris Medlen and Miami’s Wade LeBlanc. They both are enters with the same 0-1 records and 3.60 ERAs.
The brothers Upton have already proven that they are going to be what the Braves might need to really go somewhere this season. Super hot right now is Justin Upton, who hit five homers, scored seven runs, and drove in seven runs to earn a National League Player of the Week nomination last week. Upton hit his sixth homer of the year last night, which helped provide support for pitcher, Paul Maholm.
Players who have had slower starts this season would have to be Dan Uggla .173 (4-for-23 with two homers, eight strikeouts, .296 OBP) and Jason Heyward .083 (2-for-24 with one homer, two RBIs, .267 OBP and .208 slugging). We will see what happens in the coming games.
Last year the Braves won 14 of the 18 meetings between the Marlins we will see if history repeats itself this year.
Start time tonight is 7:10 PM ET.
