A few brief thoughts on the Saints dominant win over the Cowboys:
1. The Run Game
The Saints ran 242 yards in last Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. It’s certainly not every game that the Saints amass over 200 yards on the ground. It’s been since 1990–according to NFL ESPN–that the Saints have had such a successful run game.
2. The Kicker
Kicker Garrett Hartley missed yet another field goal in Sunday’s game. Hartley has missed six FGs this season, including four of the last six attempts. That’s enough to prompt the Saints to work out a number of kickers this week. The team didn’t sign any, but Hartley has to be getting the message. Hartley claims to know what he did wrong in Sunday’s game, but that doesn’t really explain away his inconsistency this year.
3. The Defense
It’s still not the worst. The Cowboys gained 193 total yards, which was the least a Saints defense has given up since 2006.
I’m basking a bit in the win…but the Saints are back to work preparing for the upcoming game against the 49ers.
