31 Prospects In 31 Days: Nicky Delmonico, #6

A newcomer to this list, Delmonico was the Orioles’ sixth-round pick in 2011. He was signed at the deadline and went to instructional ball, where his swing caught people’s eyes. He’s a little slow with the bat, but he has good instincts, says Baseball America, and he’ll hone those instincts and determine which pitches are worth swinging at and which aren’t.

Nicky’s brother plays in the Dodgers organization as a catcher, and Nicky could be a catcher, too, if he wanted to – but he doesn’t want to. He’ll probably end up being a corner infielder, which is good because the Orioles seem to be in short supply of those as of late.

Here, have some scouting video and tell me what you think.
