5 Guns And Rifles That Are Great For Target Shooting

Gun shopping can be overwhelming whether you’re a beginner or an experienced shooter. And just because one gun is an excellent choice for someone else, doesn’t necessarily mean it will be for you. There are multiple factors to consider when you’re trying to decide on a new gun, and the most important of these is probably what you’ll be using it for.  If you’re hunting, for example, you’re going to pick a much different gun than if you’re planning to use it to go target shooting. If shooting at targets is your style, here are 5 great guns you should consider.

Ruger 10/22

The Ruger 10/22 is not only affordable but also extremely versatile. You can use this Ruger rifle at a competition and then use it on a hunting trip the next weekend. That said, some people consider it to be the best target gun money can buy. It makes a great weapon to train a novice shooter on, and shoots inexpensive ammunition which adds to its affordability.

Browning Buckmark

This medium-frame pistol is usually outfitted with Pro-target sights which will help your shots to be more accurate. It’s fun to shoot and also pretty affordable, making it a favorite among seasoned target shooters.

Smith & Wesson Victory

An all-steel gun, this one’s a little heavier than others on the list. This makes it easier to absorb recoil. Keep the weight in mind though, because some people may prefer a lighter gun. The Victory has quickly become Smith & Wesson’s main target pistol, and with good reason. It has scored well in accuracy among other specifications.

Walther SSP Target Pistol

Strictly a target pistol, this handgun really packs a punch. You won’t see anyone shooting one of these unless they are a target shooter, as these are designed for professional competitions. It’s very lightweight and also features a shelf to help lock your fingers in place when you’re holding it, which can result in extraordinary accuracy. This is the gun to go for if you’re serious about target shooting.

Model 20RF

This gun is more expensive than most others on the list, but if you’re willing to shell out the cash, it could prove to be worth it. The Model 20RF is a bolt-operated rifle and has scored significantly higher in accuracy compared to most other rifles.

Choosing your next target shooting gun is an important decision but also a very exciting one. If you decide on the right gun, it will be with you for years to come and possibly even help you win competitions. Hopefully this list has given you a good place to start your search.
